The Origins of the Midnight Club
Share
The Midnight Club, also known as Middo Naito Kurabu, was founded in 1987. The group was made up of elite drivers who would gather in the dead of night to race on the Wangan Expressway, a long and straight stretch of highway in the Tokyo and Yokohama area. This road became their proving ground, where only the fastest and most skilled drivers could compete.
Unlike other street racing groups, Midnight Club members weren’t just thrill-seekers; they were professionals in their own right—mechanics, engineers, and serious car enthusiasts who meticulously tuned their machines to push beyond 200 mph (320 km/h).
